Expanded Polystyrene EPS News

New Recycling Program for Polystyrene Launched!

As part of the Local Government Polystyrene Resource Recovery Project, MWMG and Wyndham City Council have just launched the new polystyrene recycling program at Wyndham’s Refuse Disposal Facility.
As part of the project, nine councils including Wyndham, will provide recycling infrastructure for expanded polystyrene (EPS) as part of the Victorian Government’s Driving Investment for New Recycling Fund.
It’s estimated Australian’s throw out more than seven million wheelie bins of polystyrene packaging every year, taking up precious landfill space. Participating resource recovery centres hope to divert around 39,000 cubic metres of polystyrene from landfill each year. This is equivalent to over 15 Olympic-sized swimming pools full of polystyrene.
The polystyrene recycling drop-off facility is now open at the Wyndham Refuse Disposal Facility and is the first of a number of locations across Melbourne.
The Wyndham RDF is open on weekdays from 8am to 4pm; Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays from 8.30am to 4pm.
